Job Description

The Electronic Engineering function in Edinburgh requires a Senior / Principal Hardware engineer to work on the capture, allocation and flow down of hardware requirements to Radar receiver sub systems. This engineer will also be responsible for defining the design verification strategy and capturing the design verification evidence.

Key Responsibility Areas

You will ideally be an engineer with experience in capturing, defining, and writing hardware requirement for complex RF systems. In particular you will be responsible for extracting relevant requirements from high level system specifications. You will also be expected to manage the negotiation of distributed requirements with other technical stakeholders. You will be a key player in defining the design verification strategy and managing the design compliance evidence.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required


You should have a background in electronic and or systems engineering. This role gives you the unique opportunity to expand your skill by combing aspects of electronics with systems engineering. You must have the desire and determination to grow your knowledge and skill beyond your traditional discipline. You will have a cross disciplines technical role, liaising with many different stakeholders to determine requirements and work closely with the receiver design authority.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to acquire a great deal of knowledge on Radar Receivers and how they fit into Fire Control Radars.


You will possess a degree in Electronic Engineering or relevant related discipline. It would be beneficial if you also have experience in radar receiver techniques and technologies but this is not essential.


The following skills are desirable:

* Familiarity with Radar System design in particular Radar Receivers.
* An understanding of the hardware and firmware design process
* Ability to liaise with Hardware, Systems and Software Engineers
* Skills in collecting design verification evidence
* Skills in requirement apportionment and writing of hardware requirements.
* Skills in verification planning/definition and verification methods for hardware systems
* Knowledge of DOORs tool.
* Skills in interacting with peers at partner companies
* Understand of LRI/SRI/Software/MCD/ICD/ACD specifications.
