Engineering Data Manager – Avionics

This is an immediate requirement for an experienced Engineer with experience of working in an engineering design or manufacturing environment.

A great opportunity has arisen for a Data Engineer to work for a major Avionics design company in the Edinburgh area. Your role is to take responsibility for all engineering and manufacturing data being transferred both internally and externally. Your key aim is to ensure correct compliance and also to suggest and make improvements where possible. This is a new team within the organisation, which has already shown it can make significant improvements to the company. Due to this initial success my client is looking to expand the team further and look at cover more areas within the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience of Engineering in an Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics environment. An appreciation of moving from design into manufacturing would be useful as well as working to Configuration Management 2 standards.

Responsibilities for this Data Management Engineer role

- Comply to Document Management procedures
- Implement and maintain transmission data records for project data in accordance with national and international regulations and security aspects (e.g. ITAR, UK Export Controls). Ensuring that incoming and outgoing data is processed in line with company procedures.
- Co-ordinate with colleagues to ensure projects understand Data/ Document requirements.
- Data Management including operation of secure data transfer systems.
- Monitoring & reviewing accuracy of records.
- Advising the project teams of best practice.
- Contribute towards the Delivery of Milestones.
- Timely delivery of Data Management activities assigned to you.
- Receipt / Transmittal of data.

Requirements for this Data Management Engineer role

- IT Skills: Microsoft Suite particularly Excel & Word, Access
- Strong Attention to detail
- Excellent organisation and planning skills
- Influencing skills
- Worked in an Engineering or Manufacturing background

Desirable requirements

- Siemens Teamcenter PLM experience
- Configuration or Data Management System Experience (EDMS)
- Configuration Management 2 standards
