Senior Research Engineer – Electrical Machines
The future is electric; would you like to be at the cutting edge? Are you able to take on a leading role in the prestigious Newcastle University Centre for Advanced Electrical Drives, driving the development of the next generation of electrical machines.
Newcastle University Centre for Advanced Electrical Drives is leading the development of new electrical machines for use in the car, aerospace, consumer goods and other markets. We are the home for both the Advanced Propulsion Centres Electrical Machines Spoke (confirming our position as a UK Centre of Excellence for research into low carbon vehicle traction motors) and the Aerospace Technology Institute Electrical Systems Theme. We work with partners ranging from bluechip – for example Jaguar Land Rover, Dyson and Airbus – to innovative new start-ups. We have developed motors that have driven world record holding solar powered aircraft, allowed the development of high performance electric vehicles and enabled championship winning racing cars.
This role will see you take on the leading role in the centre’s electrical machines team, driving our research forwards whilst building new innovative relationships with our industrial and academic partners. The objective will simply be to help the Centre to continue to build its reputation as an innovative, proactive and professional Centre of Excellence for Electrical machines development.
Supporting the Director, the successful candidate will coordinate our electrical machines research, develop new research proposals, undertake world leading research and publish in leading journals.
The role will also offer opportunities to become involved in teaching and student supervision, through agreement between the candidate and director.
