Successful applicants will be required to work as part of a team of engineers, developing software for use in real time automotive applications. Work covers all parts of the software lifecycle, from developing new ideas and concepts, and requirements capture through to final testing and entering into production

Successful applicants are required to possess a degree of self-discipline and initiative that will allow them to work unaided, solving engineering problems that are required by the position. The majority if the work is centred on the development of new ideas and fitting them into the Gen 5 architecture, which will require a large amount of creative thinking. The final software will be running in a safety critical system, so must be proven to be reliable to a high degree of rigour. The ability to spot potential problems and perform adequate testing at all levels of abstraction is essential

This role requires specialisation in electric motor control

Job Role:

1 Working with sales, marketing and engineering to define product specifications
2 Interpret customer and product specifications to produce software functional specifications
3 Software system design
4 Software safety
5 Documentation of architecture and high level design
6 Ensuring compliance with processes required ASPICE and ISO26262
7 Ensuring that software design follows company software and quality procedures
8 Ensuring that all work is carried out safely

Must have experience and skills in ALL of these areas below:

1 Experience in development of real-time embedded software using C programming language
2 Experience of implementing motor control schemes using C programming language
3 Experience with inverter technology, either in automotive or undustrial applications
4 Experience with ACSSurface and Interior Permanent Magnet motors and AC Induction motors
5 Digital Signal processing experience

Desirable experience and skills:

1 Experience with automotive applications
2 Knowledge of / or experience of working with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) development framework
3 Experience developing systems to ISO26262 standards
4 Experience working with high power inverters (typically in the 10kW to 200kW range)
6 CANbus
7 Debugging on real-time embedded systems

Qualifications required:

1 BSc (Hons) in Computer Science/ Software Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Electrical and electronic Engineering or equivalent. 2:1 or higher grade

Relevant professional experience:

1 Recent graduate for junior software engineer position
