Job Title: Senior Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Engineer

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £30k-38k Negotiable, Dependent on Experience.

The company is one of the UK’s leading geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering firms. They have been providing expert and cost-effective site and ground investigation services for 40 years through three divisions; Engineering, Consulting, and Testing Services.

They offer services including

* Site and ground investigation
* Contaminated land evaluation and remediation
* Soil, rock, water sampling and UKAS accredited testing.
* Geotechnical consulting
* Environmental monitoring, permitting and health impact assessment

Based in London, Norwich, and Cambridge they work nationally for a wide range of clients. Regardless of whether it is a small domestic investigation or major project, such as the Olympic Park in London, they always aim to provide a high quality service, on time and within budget.

A Senior Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer is required to join the geotechnical engineering division operating from the company’s Cambridge office, to work on a range of site investigation projects across East Anglia, the south of England and further afield. Applicants would also be considered for a senior engineer role in Norwich.

Key Requirements:

Candidates as a minimum should have a degree in a relevant subject, at least five years’ demonstrable experience in geotechnical site investigation and contaminated land assessments, supervising engineers and field technicians, a full UK driving license, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and a keen interest in learning new skills.

Knowledge and experience should include soil mechanics, confidence in providing foundation recommendations, soil/groundwater/ground gas risk assessments, supervising/undertaking trial pits, boreholes and other field techniques, and experience as a line manager.


The role will involve a mixture of site and office based work, predominantly based around the specification, operation, management and interpretation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations. The Cambridge and Norwich geotechnical departments are led by the principal engineer, with senior engineers each responsible for helping and supervising a small team of engineers/graduates/assistants in their work.
