Job Title: Graduate Electronics and Controls Engineer

Location: Rochester, Kent

Our Client produces a networked monitoring and control package, primarily targeted at the marine market. It is used worldwide on luxury yachts and specialist vehicles.

The Role & Responsibilities:

This position will be to support the ongoing electronics hardware and firmware requirements of the company. Products are continually being revised and improved, and they require schematic design, PCB layout and firmware creation to support that development.

The system itself is programmed in a PC environment that is very similar to PLC programming environments. They need to be able to train and support our customers in the use of the programming tool.

You will report into the Product manager and Senior Electrics developer directly, working independently on projects and updates, liaising with management for advice, direction and confirmation of plans.

Essential skills and experience:

* A knowledge of PC software development
* An understanding of PLC type control and automation systems
* Candidate must be fluent at designing high quality PCB designs.
* Analogue and digital circuit design
* Schematic capture using NI Multisim or similar package
* PCB layout using NI Ultiboard or similar package
* Component level test and debugging

Desirable skills and experience:

* Familiar with embedded firmware development.
* Embedded C for PIC and AVR microcontrollers.
* Working with bug trackers and revision control systems.
* Able to develop software for Raspberry Pie and similar low cost hardware platforms.
* Ability to work well as part of a team.
* Pro-active and self-motivating.
* Willingness to be flexible and accept new challenges
* Flair for lateral thinking and problem solving.
* Professional and enthusiastic approach to work.
