The Role:

Due to the expansion of business within the Controls and Electronics team we are actively searching for a systems safety engineer to work on Controls and Electronics projects mainly for the automotive industry but with the possibly to support other industries as well.

Job Description:

Working as part of a multinational and multi-disciplined team you will be involved in a range of projects predominantly for the passenger car and truck applications. You will be supporting the design and management of functional safety for conventional as well as leading edge technologies. You will need to work effectively with other engineering disciplines to develop system level solutions and you should be comfortable in a client facing role.

Some reasonable level of travel to support customer interaction & meetings at other offices is expected.

Person Specification:

You are a proven engineer with a track record in System Safety Engineering in the automotive or similar industries.

You are now seeking a position into a challenging industry that will broaden your experience.

In order to be successful, you will need to seek innovative solutions while working closely with development teams and interfacing with customers within tight timescales.

You are a thorough yet pragmatic engineer who applies a sound understanding of the fundamentals of functional safety engineering to pro-actively ensure that safety is built into the product from the start. You have an understanding of relevant safety engineering standards (in particular ISO 26262) but more importantly. you understand the principles and rationales behind them acknowledging that compliance more than a mere ticking-the-boxes exercise.

Able to work & communicate well within multi-disciplinary project teams, you are a self-starter, confident in your decisions, and display a strong “can-do” attitude to match the challenges you will face with equal enthusiasm.

Your degree qualification will be in a technical subject and you will be expected to be have some experience with the following:

1 Sound theoretical & practical knowledge of functional safety engineering fundamentals
2 Controls and electronics (incl. typical communication protocols like CAN)
3 Knowledge of at least one of the following standards: ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, DEF-STAN 00-56, EN 5012x
4 Analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, FHA, HAZOP, RBD etc.
5 Constructing safety arguments for complex embedded systemsA safety engineering specific qualification is a bonus, but not essential.Knowledge in at least one of the following additional areas would be advantageous:

1 Embedded software development
2 Electronics hardware development
3 Electrical safety
4 Model-Based Development using the Mathworks tool-chain
5 MEDINI Analyze IKV/KPIT toolchain, FaultTree+ IsographProficiency in another language would be advantageous.
