* Deployment of, and liaison with, design team.
* Client meetings and stakeholder engagement.
* Checking and approving design outputs.
* Managing design budgets and manage risk.
* Attend internal and external technical and commercial review meetings.
* Identify, Record and Implement Change.
* Manage design engineers to ensure design deliverables are completed accurately and in line with appropriate plans and targets and fulfills the contractual obligation.
* Encourage team to drive capital efficiencies through innovative design.
* Manage sub-contractors and suppliers through design, procurement and construction support.
* Supporting and engaging in design reviews and HAZOP studies. Plan all technical aspects of the programme and projects, working with the Project Manager, to assist in the formation of a design strategy, ensuring that this is adhered.
* Be responsible to the Project Manager for delivering and coordinating all technical aspects of the project, Work with the Design Manager to agree technical resource required, forecast and manage resource costs throughout the project.
* Drive excellence in Health & Safety in design, ensuring a culture of safer by design by eliminating hazards and risks wherever possible. Provide clear and concise information about any remaining risks which the construction teams or end user will need to be aware of. Ensure pre construction information and design risk assessments are completed, compliant with CDM requirements.
* Provide guidance to less experienced team members - assist with the mentoring and development of staff to reach their maximum potential.
* Monitoring and reporting against the project program
* Work with the planners to develop a detailed design programme clearly identifying the design deliverables, assuring that programme is in line with the project completion.
* Ensure that all design complies with relevant standards and engineering specifications and record all non-compliance.
* Participate in engineering design forums.
* Chartered or nearing Chartered Engineer.
* Excellent report writing, communication and teamwork skills.
* Experience of water and wastewater projects.
* Confidence and experience of meeting with internal and external clients and of producing proposals.
* Willingness to travel to meet the needs of specific projects is desirable
* Experience of managing design at all stages from concept to commissioning
* Analytical and problem solving, attention to detail and creative thinking.
* Experience in design and build projects would be advantageous.
* Expert user of Microsoft office suite.
* Advance user of Microsoft project.
* Good level of commercial awareness
* Prepared to adapt to new systems aimed at achieving design for process safety.

* You will hold a BSc, BEng, MEng or MSc in Engineering.
* Ideally holding Chartered Engineer status.
