* Be responsible for the performance of the Electrical/Electronic Design Team working within project and programme teams to ensure an increase in the Engineering Department capability through team and individual development. To include maintaining and reporting of KPIs.
* Be responsible for the performance management and development of individuals within the team to ensure that they are supported to achieve their goals and aspirations.
* Be responsible to ensure that the Electrical/Electronic Design Team operate within the approved procedures.
* Be responsible for the management and allocation of resources within the Electrical/Electronic Design Team, including recruitment and training of new staff or contractors to satisfy the business needs.
* Be responsible for the provision of estimated prime cost information to enable new tasks / projects to be priced and quoted in support of the Sales / Business Development function including, where appropriate, the preparation of technical proposals.
* Be responsible for the maintenance of design and standard procedures specific to Electrical/Electronic design and in particular ISO 9001 registration.
* Look to identify continual improvements to ensure design procedures are cost effective and aligned to business / product requirements.
* Ensure that the tools, libraries and systems used by the team are effective and being utilised to their best potential

Qualifications and experience:

* Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (e.g. Electrical & Electronic Engineering)
* 5 years relevant industry and resource management experience
* Working knowledge of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Design disciplines.
* Ability to lead and direct teams.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to confidently deal with performance management.
* A background understanding of relevant technology and practice.
* Ability to build and facilitate good working relationships at all levels across the business.
* Understanding of H & S.
* Strong written and verbal communication.
* Microsoft office.
* A confident and effective problem solver and decision maker whilst working under pressure
