To support the design and approval of aircraft interior products. Be a Subject Matter Expert for the aircraft interiors design team for multiple customers and projects worldwide. Resolve complex engineering problems associated with aircraft primary structure changes required in support of interior design modifications (e.g. modification of airframe primary structure to provision for additional attachment points for interior commodities (hard point / seat track / top attachments) and installation of SATCOM Radome for in-flight communications for passengers). Responsibilities include; Coordination with Regulatory Authorities for any necessary assistance and/or approvals, structural evaluation of components, advise the design team on structural compliance requirements for Interior components and secondary structure modification. Travel to customer locations as well as the design centres worldwide may be required. KEY


• Work within the Aircraft design modification team(s), to assist with the generation of Design documentation and drawings, and interface with customer on required changes.

• Develop structural substantiation, including Fatigue and Damage Tolerance considerations, for modifications to Primary Structures for work such as: o Modification of floor structure to allow seat track extension or addition of hard point fittings o Modification of ceiling structure to allow additional top-attachment provisions to be installed o Fuselage penetrations to allow the installations of SATCOM Radomes or Antennae

• Prepare, review and approve certification/structural documentation and drawings to submit for customer and regulatory approval.

• Prepare, review and approve test documentation, including as applicable structural test plans, flight test plans, Permit to Fly applications and Flight Condition applications in support of installations being conducted.

• Prepare, review and approve procedures and Design Organisation Handbook updates to supplement the existing Design Assurance System in order to extend the current scope of approval for such installations.

• Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities (primarily EASA, the CAA and FAA) to maintain Design Organisation Approval for extended scope of work and ensure that all projects meet relevant regulatory requirements.

• Mentor, support and lead global team(s) in multiple time zones.

• Lead and/or support customer design reviews and presentations.

• Coordinate and monitor relevant aspects of project schedule with team members and the customer.

• Review and approve drawing and designs.


• Experience in related commercial/military aircraft design fields.

• Possess project/analytical management skills and ability to multi-task.

• The candidate should already understand structural compliance methods for the substantiation of the kind of products identified in the “KEY RESPONSIBILITIES” section of this JD.

• Ability to be self-motivated and meet deadlines with little supervision.

• Strong working knowledge of relevant paragraphs of CS-25 required.

• Familiarity with EASA Part 21 Subpart J preferred

• Knowledge of aircraft primary structure changes to accommodate new projects for primary structure modifications in support of interior design changes.


• Engineering / Technical Degree and/or

• 10 or more years’ experience in Engineering Classification to be recognized as a Subject Matter Expert, ideally with a signatory responsibility such as CVE, for the type of work describe in this JD.
