You will be responsible for the Promotion of Continuous Improvement and its activities and services to others. Present, facilitate and lead assigned process improvement activities using methods of culture-appropriate team building, team energising, data gathering and analysis, problem solving and project management.

* Seeking and evaluating process improvement and lean Enterprise information, material and methods to match specific organisational needs as outlined by management and adapts them to use in the execution of process improvement activities.
* Working with departmental management to assure appropriate participation and support and provide activity follow-up to monitor the progress of planned improvement and implementation to assure timely action, appropriate management support and achievement of expected benefits. Using appropriate measurement analysis and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements.
* Development of overall Continuous Improvement activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities and anticipated needs.
* Co-ordination with related departments and functions to assure appropriate information flow and understanding of overall process improvement direction.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Create and maintain visual displays and storyboards within the factory to propagate the C.I. message and inform every one of the ongoing activities.
* Deliver training in Lean Principles C.I. tools and methods.
* Facilitate improvement meetings / activities in the factory.
* Coach local factory improvement teams in data collection and analysis to enable improvement results to be assessed and analysed.
* Coach and mentor all factory employees in use of data, graphical analysis and ‘speaking with data'.
* Coach the factory employees in the use of appropriate improvement tools and methods. Guide people through a structured improvement process.
* Work with department managers to identify opportunities for improvement that support the factory achieving its Goals and Objectives.
* Teach, by theory and by example, the PDCA approach.
* Plan and organise improvement activities.
* Conduct reviews to assess the effectiveness of improvement activity and to draw out the lessons learned.
* Constantly review the factory improvement activities for effectiveness and adjust the approach as required.
* Provide strategic leadership and tactical planning.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Qualification:

* Educated to degree level in Science / Engineering / Technology;
* Trained in Improvement tools and methods;
* Trained in the culture and behavioural aspects of organizational change;
* English fluency;

Experience:

* Minimum 8 years experience working in manufacturing of which 5 were in a management role; Experienced C.I. Practitioner who must have successfully used C.I. tools and methods in a manufacturing environment;
* Must have experience successfully leading and facilitating improvement;
* Must have understanding of statistical tools and methods and be able to coach others in structured rigorous use of data;
* Must have Automotive OEM first tier experience
* Culture change: Must have experience in how to successfully manage people through change. Must understand typical resistance to change and how to overcome it.

The qualified candidate will lead the planning, direction, and coordination of manufacturing techniques and support justification for alternate methods to reduce costs. For example, conducting cycle time analysis to verify current/ future production rates and target potential improvements; work with production teams to improve working environment and product throughput; and most importantly raise the level of awareness for lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Experience with Toyota System, Kanbans, Kaizen, and similar continuous improvement programs is preferred. Good communication, computer proficiency, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a 'team' environment, is essential. Travel may be required.

Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
