The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication skills and team working skills, and will need to be able to build relationships quickly. You will need to be organised and adaptable, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce documents of a very high standard. The candidate must also be efficient and able to stay calm when working under pressure and be able to work independently as well within a team. Occasionally, you will need to be flexible and work outside your core hours to meet deadlines.


The role is suited to someone who enjoys working in an exciting and readily changing environment, working within a small, friendly team, where quick turnarounds are expected and work covers a variety of sectors, assignments and projects. You must enjoy working with, and at, all levels of the business, including working with the Marketing Team, Account Managers, Business Sector Directors, Product Line Leaders, the Commercial Director, and the Legal Team. This role provides the successful candidate with experience of, and insight into, all aspects of the company’s business within the UK, and at a Global scale, across a variety of sectors (water, waste, energy, industry and infrastructure) and including the engineering, management consultancy, strategy, risk and legal arenas.

With support from the Marketing Services team, the responsibilities of the Bid Manager are to:

• Download and issue the invitation for proposal document(s) through a variety of portals;

* Extract the salient information from the invitation for proposal document(s) for discussion;
* Arrange and facilitate, Kick Off calls and Progress calls;
* Relay information/correspondence within the team and be the contact between the portal(s) and the team;
* Manage the development of the proposal document. This may involve elements of writing, or development of responses based on existing collateral. Liaise with technical specialists to complete technical questions/writing;
* Liaise with Lead Project Manager to complete commercials and liaise with Legal team to complete relevant risk/legal assessments;
* Liaise with Resource Managers/Project Managers/PLLs to identify resources. Liaise with Marketing Team to finalise proposed CVs;
* Work with the Graphic Designers/Marketing Team to develop graphics, presentations and documents;
* Proof-read/edit/format documents and CVs;
* Ensure that the bid is compliant and has followed company procedures and governance;
* Ensure that deadlines are met;
* Finalise the document before issue.

The ideal candidate will have/be able to:

• Excellent time management, co-ordination and organisational skills;

• A good level of written English;

• Be good at communication and be able to engage/collaborate with a wide variety of staff from a wide variety of backgrounds at various levels of the business;

• Be able to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks and projects;

• Work both as part of a team, and independently;

• Be proficient in Microsoft Office programmes (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat;

• Keep calm whilst working under pressure to tight deadlines;

• Be proactive.


Experience on working to a ‘Bid Process’ and also have a good understanding and desire to be part of the bid team for within a water company.
