Job Purpose:

Overall responsibility for the financial performance of the aircraft maintenance part of the business.

The management and overall control of all airframe/systems engineering aspects of the Aircraft Maintenance Group, to meet the technical specification, internal quality requirements and the requirements of regulatory bodies.

Line management of all personnel in the continuing airworthiness and maintenance organisation, covering hangar, tech records, workshops and stores.

Responsible for financial and resource budgeting and forecasting

Proactive in seeking new customers and business



Principal Accountabilities:

* Management of the part 145 organisation (Post holder - maintenance)
* Accountable for all aspects of airframe/systems engineering
* Accountable for all engineering activities on aircraft, including servicing, modification and fault rectification
* Accountable for all aircraft ground equipment maintenance, hangar and workshop facilities
* Supervision and line management of direct reports including Chief Aircraft Engineer, Stores and Mechanical Workshop
* Responsible for ensuring that budgets, forecasts and execution of work against those budgets and forecasts are accurate, up to date and supporting the business need
* Responsible for resource planning, forecasting and reporting for the hangar, workshops, tech records and stores
* Management of invoicing for all Hangar work
* Accountable for all technical records for Aircraft Engineering Group, via the Chief Aircraft Engineer
* Accountable for all aircraft and ground equipment movements within the Hangar and apron area
* Accountable for delivering the required technical solution to meet schedule and man-hour budgets agreed in the statement of work
* Accountable for the revision, implementation and definition of procedures, processes and standards in the HangarStores and Workshop environments
* To support the organisation’s Safety & Quality commitments and to uphold the company’s Just Culture policy
* Work closely with Business Development and Head of Airborne Systems Group in the specification and estimation of new projects, specifically estimating for aircraft maintenance, mechanical, electrical and avionics manufacture and installation
* Actively seeking new business opportunities to sustain and grow the hangar and workshop business. Proactive in seeking new customers and business streams for Aircraft Maintenance Group

* Ensure active participation of the Aircraft Maintenance Group team, in collaboration with the Design team, to ensure designs meet technical specifications
* To provide a professional approach to work
* Interfacing the Hangar, Workshop and Stores function with other groups and departments



Qualifications:

* Qualification of a HNC or higher in a suitable engineering discipline
* GCSE / O Level Mathematics
* Preferred - EASA Licensed Full B1 and/or B2 avionic based engineer



Knowledge and Experience:

* Must have previous experience within an aerospace maintenance and production organisation
* Preferable experience of working closely with an aerospace design organisation
* Preferable experience of working closely with Business Development to identify and secure new
* Working knowledge of airframe and system design
* Detailed knowledge of airworthiness regulations (e.g. EASA Part 145, Part M, BCAR A8.21, A8.23. A8.25)
* Knowledge and experience of working to ISO9001 quality standards
* Knowledge of current avionic technologies and an ability to assess their suitability for application to current and emerging projects
* Experienced in assembly and debugging of avionic and electrical systems
* Good knowledge of aircraft mechanical and control systems
* Appreciation of manufacturing, and experience of working with suppliers for manufacture of prototypes and end products.

* Ability to plan staff deployment effectively and efficiently
* Proactive, supportive and disciplined approach to staff development and line management
* Ability to follow a clear, logical process methodically
* Good level of numeracy
* Good IT skills – particularly MS Word and MS Excel
* Keen attention to detail for the tasks required
* Excellent presentation skills

* Must be an effective team player, but also have the ability and confidence to be able to work autonomously
* Capable of working assiduously to meet deadlines
