Our client has an opening for a Technical Manager to join this exciting business.

Key areas include: the support of new product development, supporting the EMEA based business technical teams, product benchmarking & intelligence, and strong feedback and joint work with the main R&D centre in China. In light of the importance of the role, this position reports directly to CEO International and dotted line to Manufacturing / R&D CEO in China. This position is key to the ongoing growth of the business & development of the company’s water purification systems.

Job Summary

Drive New Product development through:

* Working jointly with Group Marketing on product requirements and specifications.
* Working collaboratively with R&D team to develop the product.
* Development of testing protocol and standards to determine sample effectiveness, serviceability and reliability for the marketplace. Disseminating this information and suggesting solutions to improve initial samples.
* Support Group Marketing during the pre-production field testing and final launch plans including where necessary in-field launch events, training and exhibitions.

Support business growth through:

* Creating and organizing excellent support materials for all BUs to access and utilize, these include: operation and service manuals, training videos, technical bulletins and sales and marketing literature. Review what the current ‘status-quo’ challenge is and develop best practice including products used in servicing and core processes.
* Act as key point of contact to gather and share operational share practice. Organise structured meetings and feedback. Act as co-ordinator for wider BU/Global technical network and community.
* Develop and quality control technical training programs within the Group – lead development of high quality training materials. Possible delivery of high level masterclasses.
* Oversee the administration and resolution of warranty and insurance claims. Feedback warranty claims and information to the R&D / Manufacturing team for product improvement.
* Support the wider Indirect WL Trading business as necessary on specific projects.
* Act as the point of contact and point of escalation for difficult or complex technical issues and support timely resolution of these issues with senior leadership, R&D, China factory etc.
* Act as passionate advocate of sharing information and keeping the BU technical teams abreast and aware of latest issues, products, training, materials, etc.
* Responsible for local market product certification including active involvement in technical committees of relevant associations. To know what is happening and to update company of pending requirements, legislation etc.
* Continue to stay current on market developments and competitive products. Instigate product benchmarking work and communicate this within the business to help commercial teams sell against competing products
* Remain current with general industry standards, new technologies, and market tendencies.

Qualifications & Experience

* Mechanical or Industrial engineering degree with engineering experience, or HND with 5+yrs of experience. Good practical experience.
* Background in coffee machines, vending machines, water treatment or products – an relative advantage. In general, experience with B2B or B2C products utilizing ‘food & beverage’ standards, refrigeration, electronic controls important.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze data and formulate action plans and create and successfully execute project schedules.
* Experience of managing service organisations very helpful
* Experience coordinating several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and achieving company objectives.
* Proven success in working with others while completing projects and empowering co-workers.
* Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Capable of delivering technical and sales presentations to an audience possessing a wide range of aptitudes related to subject.
* Knowledge of water purification desired, but not necessary. Motivation to become a subject matter expert in water is mandatory.
* Looking to develop professional engineering career, possibly started on path to CEng (UK) or similar.

Compensation: Attractive with company bonus, car allowance and benefits

Other notes: Requires around 40% travel mainly within UK / Europe, occasional wider EMEA region, US or China.
