The Job

This central borough is going through an exciting period of change - and you can be a crucial part of this work. Quite simply, they are investing a huge amount of money in making this area better, healthier and more appealing. They want it to be a place that people are proud to call home, and an area that offers exciting leisure and work options - and the £3billion redevelopment of Elephant and Castle is just the start of that work. Working across projects such as the crucial regeneration of Old Kent Road which will include preserving heritage buildings and creating 20,000 new homes, they can offer an environment in which you will ultimately create social change for the vibrant community.

The candidate will ensure projects are fulfilled to the agreed standards, that relevant funding is available and that any issues are resolved, you will maintain the business focus and organisational structure of the overall programme. Prioritising project requests as they come into the department, your extensive assessments will define these crucial works.

You will need:

• Good people management skills, gained in a programme planning and delivery role in which you managed risk – ideally supported by the relevant qualifications.
• Financial acumen, including the ability to manage a budget of £500,000 and oversee a programme of projects with a cumulative capital budget of around £15million.
• An appreciation for how highways and public realm projects can impact on the regeneration of an urban area.
• The ability to communicate with audiences and stakeholders at all levels, including members of the community, the voluntary sector and elected members.
• Good IT skills including the ability to use MS Project and SAP.
• Meticulous organisation skills, with the capacity to meet targets and a willingness to work outside normal office hours as required.

£42,651 to £49,176 plus 33 days leave / local authority pension and flexible working.
