My client's specialist water team works across a broad spectrum of areas, including principally:-

* Environmental impact assessment and associated water quality, flow and flood risk assessments
* Flood risk assessment in due diligence, planning and permitting
* Water scarcity risk assessments
* Climate change adaptation & business continuity

My client requires someone who is experienced in flood risk and water resources deliverables (primarily the hydrological components of EIAs/ESIAs and transaction / compliance led water risk assessments). Surface water resources (fluvial hydrology, drainage and flood risk) experience is also key. The successful candidate does not have to be a modeller but will be expected to have a sound grasp of conceptual models, be numerate and able to review, understand and question hydrological models. Experience in fluvial modelling would be beneficial but this is not expected to be the major focus of the role.

The successful candidate for the role of Hydrologist (Senior grade) would undertake a range of duties including but not limited to the following:

* Specification of fieldwork (walkovers, surface water and groundwater hydraulic monitoring and sampling, supervising and managing contractors on site);
* Office support (spatial data interpretation, manipulation and presentation, reporting, etc.)
* Reporting – environmental appraisals, permit support and major components / inputs to ESIA reports (assessment chapters and supporting technical assessments);
* Undertake or supervise flood and water risk assessment work including the application of catchment based models, and flood risk appraisal work under permitting requirements;
* Undertake or supervise flow assessment work including low flow modelling;;
* Apply an understanding of relevant British and ISO Standards, IFC and Equator Principles, industry guidance documents and relevant legislation;
* Undertake scoping studies and assist in fee proposal preparation for future work;
* Management of small to medium sized projects, to include financial management.

We are looking for individuals with the following experience:

* Qualified to masters level with in hydrology, basin and catchment scale dynamics;
* Numerate with experience of flood risk modelling using UK and international methods;
* Interested in coupled catchment modelling experience using linked groundwater and surface water models – eg GSSHA / MOD-AEMs;
* Considering surface and groundwater interactions;
* Excellent spatial data handling / manipulation and GIS skills.
