The contract involves working on the UKPN (EPN) 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network, refurbishing and building new switchouses and transformer enclosures with associated switchgear, transformers and cabling. The candidate should have a background in construction and the electrical distribution industry. A key requirement is the ability to run multiple sites effectively and have a track record to provide evidence of experience.

The project Manager will manage, coordinate and supervise the construction activities prior to the start of construction through to final completion and acceptance of multiple projects. He/She will be responsible for coordinating and managing people, plant, materials, budget, programme, quality assurance, contract requirements, and health & Safety of employees and general public. The role would suit someone who has prior knowledge of the distribution system and has the technical ability to read drawings and respond to technical queries arriving from site. The candidate must live within the UKPN (EPN) footprint

Duties and Responsibilities

* Day to day management of site staff and issues arising from sites
* Development and implementation of Safety documentation including Health and Safety Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
* Monitor performance of site staff with respect to Health and Safety, Quality and Environment.
* Ensure full compliance on projects with all Morrison procedures and current legislation.
* Client liaison including arranging progress meetings, pre-start meetings and client audits.
* Identify and resolve design issues raised on site
* Planning and programming of current and future works. Updating programmes on a weekly basis.
* Involvement with Cost Value Reconciliation.
* Subcontractor procurement and monitoring.Experience and Skills
* Skill in organising resources and establishing priorities.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
* Knowledge of budgeting, estimating and cost value reconciliation.
* Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, windows based operating environment.
* Knowledge of contract documents and specifications
* Knowledge of current legislation relating to Health, Safety and Environment.
* Ability to work within budget and within programmed timescales.
* Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers, planning supervisors, site staff, quantity surveyor and estimators.


Candidates should preferably have the following qualifications:

* Qualified to HNC / Degree Level in Construction, Civil Engineering or an Electrical discipline
* Candidates with other recognised qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate they have worked in a similar role for over five years
* CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme
* UK Power Networks Sub Station Entry
