Job role:

1 Design and development of software for motor controllers and supporting peripheral devices for automotive and industrial electric vehicles
2 Working with sales, marketing, customers and engineering to define product specifications
3 Interpret product specifications to produce software functional specifications
4 Software system design
5 Software safety
6 Coding, testing and debugging
7 Documentation of code and testing
8 Ensuring that software design follows the company software and quality procedures
9 Selection of software such as compilers, CASE tools, and version tracking software
10 Supervision and guidance for junior software engineers
11 Support of applications engineering and production department for software design related issues
12 Work to company quality and national / international standard

Must have experience and skills in ALL of these areas below:

1 A good understanding of the concepts and processes of ISO26262
2 Proven ability to: - Define and analyse software requirements - Derive software requirements - Design software components to unit level from requirements & system design ensuring consistency and traceability - Confidently design software using semi-forma notation - Code in ANSI C 99 to MISRA 2004/ 2012 - Develop and maintain static and unit tests - Define, develop and execute integration test plans - Perform safety analysis on safety related software components - Perform code inspection or review for suitability as safety related code
3 In-depth understanding of following the concepts - Requirements developing software to a specific ASIL - Methods and mechanisms to ensure freedom of interference of software of differing ASILs - Ensure correct access to shared hardware resources within the execution environment
4 Diagnostic functions of state of the art micro-controllers

Desirable experience and skills:

1 Understanding of motor control, inverter technology- principles and operation
2 In-depth knowledge of automotive safety concepts and processes
3 Infineon Aurix micro-controllers- including SafeTLib
4 Practical knowledge of relevant safety standards: - ISO26262:2011 relating to inverters or power train management
5 Working knowledge of power electronics
6 Hardware experience regarding implementation of functionally safe hardware down to component level
7 Practical knowledge of automotive and industrial technologies: - Automotive electronics - CAN protocols: CANopen, J1939, OBDII - Three phase inverters - Surface Mount Permanent Magnet Motor Control - Induction Machine Motor Control
8 Isograph reliability workbench
9 Requirements / Configuration Management Tools, Ideally Cradle
10 Design capture tools and language (Ideally Enterprise architect)

Qualifications required:

1 BSc (Hons) in Computer Science / Software Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent. 2.1 or higher grade
