An opportunity exists for a Thermal Control Systems Development Engineer to deliver activities for on-going client projects working on a large variety of vehicle based projects ranging from one off concept vehicle through to complete multi-platform and multi-application production programmes.

Key Responsibilities: Development Engineer working on vehicle programmes in the area of Thermal & HVAC System Controls Development & Calibration.

The job includes the following responsibilities: * Support the program team in the; * System specification definition for the powertrain thermal / HVAC control system(s), including writing control strategy systems & defining electrical / electronic (EE) system requirements for the thermal systems * Liaising with powertrain thermal / HVAC systems engineers and the electrical / electronic systems engineers to ensure the correct integration of the powertrain thermal / HVAC control system * Lead the DFMEA and DVP for the powertrain thermal / HVAC control system with thermal & EE engineers. * Lead the activity to ensure that the powertrain thermal / HVAC control system is tested pre-vehicle installation * Undertake the powertrain thermal / HVAC control system development and calibration testing in vehicle * Typical testing conducted is in Environmental Test Chamber, Climatic Wind Tunnel, and Development Hot & Cold, and Varied Climate Road Trip testing. * The project engineer is responsible for the management of the instrumentation of the vehicle for data acquisition, the process of data and the analysis & reporting of the test data from these tests.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Essential * The successful applicant will have a sound Engineering background with a number of years of experience of successfully delivering projects. * Degree qualified or similar qualification * Strong numeracy and literacy * A minimum of five years experience in Powertrain Thermal and/or Cabin Climate system development. * Proven experience in Thermal and/or Climate Controls system development & calibration. * Ability to use Matlab & Simulink for control coding, both writing the software from scratch and adapting other people's code * Good understanding of human thermal comfort principles * Understanding of automotive customer preferences principles * Good logical reasoning * Demonstrates depth of knowledge in a relevant technical speciality * Already chartered or working towards chartered status is desired * Ability to inspire team to strive for improvements and high customer service * Evidence of achieving results through effective leadership of team * Capable of managing a group of engineers and supports the Lead Engineers in the delivery of the performance objectives of their group * Ability to overcome cultural barriers

Desirable * Good knowledge of automotive legislation requirements * Good knowledge of vehicle based control and electrical systems * Knowledge of system level safety concepts and requirements, related standards (including ISO 26262) beneficial and industry tools such as DFMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis * Experience in managing project budgets, resource and delivery * Understanding of commercial business factors * Working knowledge of 1D simulation codes and understanding the process linking CAE analysis and test data

Personal Attributes: * Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team * Robust character with strong self-drive and motivation * Organised and rigorous with personal target of high quality delivery * Ability to work under pressure and manage own workload to ensure program milestones are met on-time * Proven ability for technical guidance of less experienced engineers * Proficient in English (written and spoken) for project and technical communication

Additional Requirements: Travel to test facilities, suppliers & other locations world-wide on an as required basis to support programmes * Valid UK/EU driving license
