Project Manager - Automation Birmingham / Midlands region – UK coverage

Our client specialises in the provision of bespoke automation and materials handling solutions to some of the biggest names in the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing planned program of strategic expansion, they are now seeking to recruit an articulate, dynamic and highly self-motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager - Automation to complement their established and successful project team.

The successful Project Manager - Automation candidate will ideally be degree qualified in a relevant engineering related discipline and will demonstrate a proven background and track record allied to materials handling systems and automation projects including WCS/WMS functionality. You will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a multiskilled team, and will be comfortable in working closely in a customer facing environment with internal and external contacts, so exceptional communication skills at all levels are essential for the position.

As the Project Manager - Automation, you will be responsible for a range of project / solutions development and implementation activities including (but not limited to) equipment and systems selection, design and development whilst working with multiple suppliers, interpreting supplier specifications, solution costing and value engineering activities, initial contract specification and subsequent communication with suppliers and the customer at various stages of the project. Specific experience of WMS/WCS factory and site testing, go live and ramp up would be advantageous.

To be considered for this varied and extremely challenging Project Manager - Automation position, you will demonstrate previous materials handling installation, development and project management experience as well as the ability to write and produce tender documents and confidently technically appraise solutions on a diverse range of customer projects. You will be flexible to travel throughout the UK and some periods of site working will be expected. Short visits abroad may be involved and therefore a valid passport and a full driving licence are essential for the position.
