We are currently seeking an experience Systems Engineer for a well known IT Company based in Hook. The Systems Engineer is part of a team responsible for maintenance and upgrades to a delivered system. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

* Provide 3rd/4th line technical support to issues raised by the Service Ops Centre
* Be responsible for the investigation and delivery of defect resolutions through Engineering in to the Production Environment, without impacting the Live service.
* Be responsible for delivering engineering changes to time and quality
* Be responsible for following the engineering lifecycle
* In addition, they may be required to work evenings and weekends in support of the project.
* DV Clearance is mandatory for the role and candidates must have experience of working in a secure environment.

Skills - Mandatory:

Windows vista, 7, 2012 R2

SQL Server up to 2008, backup scheduling and configuration

Oracle versions 10, 11, 12

RMAN Scheduling and Configuration (all versions)

RMAN scripting

Skills - Useful:

Good understanding and proven track record of some of the following Technologies:

Active Directory Group Policy

PowerShell HP Client Automation (Radia)

VMWare McAfee Products

Lumension Products Windows Installer

IP / Firewall technologies Web Hosting services

Skills - on the job:

* Apply database patches as required to multiple databases
* Fault find and resolve database issues
* Schedule, configure and verify correct working of automated backups.
* Schedule configure and verify correct automated restoration of database backups, either full restoration or to a point in time.
* Contribute to Disaster Recovery solutions
* Clone/duplicate databases using standard manufacturer’s facilities.
* Manage and configure database mass storage and liaise with the SAN administrators
* Provide push-button scripted delivery of all solutions (using at least sqlcmd and sql plus)
* Contribute to push-button scripted delivery of system changes, including database installation and modification.
* Use built-in diagnostic tools to identify and resolve database performance issues
* Use built-in tools to deliver productivity, e.g. DB console, management studio
* Ability to use third party productivity tools, e.g. TOAD, SQL Developer, Red Gate
* Use own initiative
* Work under pressure and tight timescales
