Role: Chartered Structural Engineer (Director Designate)
Location: South-West London
Type: Permanent
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + Profit share

I am looking to place a Chartered Structural Engineer in a design office in South-West London. The firm are looking for a specific type of individual, one who can not only lead the Structural Engineering team, but also take up Directorship duties for the Structural Design arm of the business as time goes on.

The firm currently handle a mix of Quantity Surveying and Structural Design work, primarily in the private development market, but also incorporating healthcare refurbishment builds, primary and secondary schools and other private clients. They handle project management and contract administration for their clients, ensuring that projects are handled correctly over their entire lifecycle and eventual handover. The firm also specialises in checking works, conducting assurance and checking work for other companies.

This post is an opportunity for someone who has thought about setting up their own business but is worried about the risk of starting out on their own. This role would give someone the opportunity to lead a team in an already established business, with the support of other Directors, whilst gaining access to a generous profit share scheme directly correlated to how the team performs. As the team grows even more successful, so will your rewards.

Due to the nature of sign-off duties and mentoring other employees on their way to chartership, being a Chartered member of either the Institute of Civil Engineers or the Institute of Structural Engineers is a requirement for this post, as is having the desire to support more junior engineers on their journey to attaining their own memberships.

Job requirements:
  • Chartered Engineer status (ICE/IStructE)
  • Relevant education
  • New-build and refurbishment experience
  • Residential, healthcare, education experience
  • Party wall experience
  • Buildings Regulations, contract administration and cost management experience
  • Desire to lead and develop a successful team of engineers and technicians
