Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: London

Salary: Competitive

Position Summary:

Your role would be to effectively support the Senior QS in the management of project tenders and works in progress including estimating and measuring works, preparation of tenders, monthly valuations and ensuring extra over works and variations to works are properly claimed.

You will work with the Contracts Director and Site Managers to obtain information on these, correctly identifying and allocating works to correct subcontractors for pricing at pre-tender stage, ensuring that tenders are submitted on time and correctly.

Main duties include:

* Analysing the client's project requirements
* Measuring, costing and estimating of works
* Researching materials, equipment and labour costs
* Gathering quotes from materials suppliers and sub-contractors
* Planning job timescales
* Preparing and submitting quotations for work
* Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities
* Monitoring project stages to make sure costs are kept in line with forecasts
* Preparing interim and final valuation accounts
* Building great relationships with colleagues, clients and subcontracting companies

Qualifications:

* We’d prefer candidates to hold or be studying for BSc in Quantity Surveying- day release candidates will be positively considered
* We will actively consider those candidates with relevant estimating/ building industry experience who are keen to move into surveying
* CSCS card should be held or candidates should be willing to attain one

Skills:

* Ability to multi task and work both on own initiative and to instructions
* Good IT skills including Excel, Word, Access, email, internet use
* An understanding of architectural/ decorating/ refurbishment drawings advantageous
* Good knowledge of construction processes and costs
* Excellent attention to detail
* Able to work in alignment with the H&S policy
* Trustworthy and honest
* Ability to develop procedures and record/ improve on these
* Able to liaise with Site Management to collate accurate logs of 'extra over' works and variations on all projects for monthly valuations
* Professional, courteous manner
* Commitment to building excellent client and subcontractor relationships
* Good standard of spoken and written English
* Strong customer service focus

Experience:

* Good research and problem-solving skills.
* Willing to take on varied training courses for personal and professional development.
