Our client is a world renowned aerospace organisation with an enviable reputation in the development of innovative highest technology solutions to the aerospace sector. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Technical Manager to complement their established and professional team working on a range of state-of-the-art technology projects.

Based in the South West of England, the successful Technical Manager candidate will be tasked with the definition, design, development, integration, testing, qualification, certification and in-service engineering support for Armament Systems for the portfolio of company products. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of challenging activities that will include:

- Supporting strategy development for Avionics Systems for a range of company products, including the technical approach to be adopted, supporting resources and facilities required and the scope and extent of any vendor partnerships needed to execute the strategy

- Capturing the requirements for Avionic Systems and the scheming of optimal solutions, using computer based tools and analysis, modelling and prototyping techniques, where appropriate

- Undertaking detailed design and specification of Avionic Systems, including the preparation of specifications and statements of work for vendor products.

- Executing design analysis and trade-off studies to support the evaluation of alternative solutions and selecting the best, balanced technical product, utilising computer tools, prototyping and analysis techniques, where appropriate, to assess system performance.

- Managing vendor engineering activities that support Avionic Systems, including the review and approval of vendor designs, test procedures and qualification /certification documentation.

- Ensuring the safety and airworthiness of all Avionic Systems for the relevant company products.

- Production and approval of documentation to support airworthiness clearance and qualification of Communication Systems

To be considered for this varied and challenging Technical Manager role, you will essentially be able to understand complex engineering processes and the inter-dependency of the process components, and demonstrate previous experience of both managing and working in cross-functional team environments and of leading a team of technical staff within a business environment. With experience in the management of department tasks, processes and business functions, you will be skilled in making complex technical decisions based on information assimilated from a number of technical experts and will be adept in identifying and directing improvements to complex processes, judging the balance between the cost and impact of change and its resulting benefits.
