Working in a cleanroom environment to independently align, Integrate ,Test & fault diagnose high value products - Laser/Electro Optic/Rf & Microwave

To process product in accordance with documented processes to time, cost and quality.

 You must be able to operate effectively with minimal supervision and meet the touch time required for each process

Key Responsibility Areas
Test , alignment , integration & Fault diagnosis of complex Laser/Electro Optic/Rf & Microwave units in a high technology aerospace & defence  manufacturing environment

Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required

  • High Level of dexterity.
  • Good Visual clarity/full colour vision
  • PC use
  • HND or degree level, in system/electrical engineering
  • Experience with SAP production systems

Laser Test

  • Oscillator Alignment Fixed-Q
  • Oscillator Alignment Q-Switched
  • Amplifier & OPO Polarisation Setup
  • Amplifier Alignment

  • Electrical safety testing
  • Understanding differences between refraction and reflection when thought of in the context of aligning a laser or optical system
  • The difference between near field and far field beam profiles, and what performance parameters they represent
  • An understanding of  the term "Q-Switching", and also some commonly experienced problems that you might expect to see with this process in high gain laser systems
  • Understand some typical fault or non-conformance features on individual optical components that contribute to degraded optical outputs (e.g. divergence, energy, homogeneity)
  • Have experience with Optical Parametric Oscillators and understand their primary function and what factors are critical to their alignment
  • Understanding and standard working practices of safety precautions required when integrating or aligning a typical laser device
  • Applying statistical process control (SPC) for fault / trend diagnosis within a production environment
  • The correct use of compounds or substances in the preparation and cleaning of optical components for high power laser use
  • Experience in working in an ISO class 8 and 6 Clean room

Electro Optic

  • Active alignment of BDA's, IG's, OGs & COA's
  • System Level testing,using scopes, sig generators, WABBs. 
  • Electrical safety testing
  • Understanding of electrical motors, gimbals and how they work
  • Have experience with focusing cameras/ optics and the effect this can have at system level
  • Understand some typical fault or non-conformance features on individual optical components that contribute to degraded optical outputs (e.g. divergence, energy, homogeneity)
  • Understanding and standard working practices of safety precautions required when integrating or aligning an electro mechanical device
  • Applying statistical process control (SPC) for fault / trend diagnosis within a production environment
  • The correct use of compounds or substances in the preparation and cleaning of optical components for high power laser use when testing a system
  • Experience in working in an ISO class 8 and 6 Clean room - Should have an understanding of working in cleanrooms and the importance of this to the quality of the job
