Designer – Plant and Tool Gauge
Would you like to thrive in an exciting and critical role within the Land (UK) business area?? We currently have a vacancy for a Designer (Plant and Tool Gauge) at our site in Glascoed.
As a Designer (Plant and Tool Gauge), you will be involved in the development of new plant and tooling products that are to be manufactured at our site in Glascoed. You will develop a close working relationship with the team leader and will have the opportunity to have hands on experience working within a high level environment.
This diverse role will provide you with vast exposure across the business. The newly redeveloped Glascoed site offers excellent staff facilities and benefits including a gym, football courts, as well as bespoke training courses and support for chartership and higher education.
Your main responsibilities as a Designer (Plant and Tool Gauge) will involve:
Production of engineering drawings and bills of materials in support of site engineering programmes
Liaising with Manufacturing and Process Engineers to support their process tooling and equipment requirements
Investigating process issues with engineers and resolving through innovative design
Involvement in the design review process throughout the product life
Ensuring design for manufacture is adhered to
Look to reduce cost through intelligent design
Your skills and qualifications:
HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design
Previous drawing office experience
Proficient user of CAD software - Solidworks, NX or Pro Engineer
Siemens NX CAD software experience
Previous experience and knowledge of gauge design to relevant British Standards e.g. plug, ring, thread gauges etc
A good working knowledge of the specific standards relating to process safety, with particular focus on:
ATEX: The name commonly given to the two European Directives for controlling explosive atmospheres
PUWER: Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
LOLER: Lifting Operations Lifting Equipment Regulations
A broad knowledge of engineering materials and material properties
Fume extraction systems experience used in an explosive dust/gas environment
Access structure fabrication design, e.g. platforms, flooring, stairways, ladders and fire escapes

Salary: £32,285 + commensurate with skills and experience
