Role: Chartered Structural Engineer (Team Lead)
Location: London
Type: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 - £65,000

I am looking to place a Chartered Structural Engineer within an international design consultancy’s London office. The firm has a reputation for undertaking architecturally complex structural design, with creativity at the heart of every design, producing complex and visually stunning results across the healthcare, public-sector, heritage, commercial and retail sectors. Compared to other firms, most projects for this firm are much more architecturally led, giving you the opportunity to work on a range of designs that will require you to be highly creative.

The firm is currently commissioned to work on a range of projects such as the Great Ormond Street Hospital redevelopment, the University of Cambridge campus redevelopment featuring a number of new laboratories, the Palace of Westminster refurbishment, and more.

The firm requires a Chartered Structural Engineer to work out of their London office who can lead from the front with regards to technical design. The role will incorporate architecturally-led and creative design work, as well as mentoring more junior engineers and ensuring they are meeting required standards.

You will have the opportunity to oversee projects from feasibility through to handover, ensuring a team of other dedicated structural designers are designing to relevant codes, making sure that projects are completed on time as well as ensuring the buildability of designs. You will still take an active role in the design process, as well as ensuring relevant stakeholders are kept up to date with any design changes, constructability issues and relaying design update requirements to design teams/technicians and construction teams.

Due to the sign-off duties associated with this role, all candidates will need to hold Chartered Engineer status, with membership of either the IStructE (Institute of Structural Engineers) or the ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers).

In return for the right design, management and client liaison skills, the firm can offer a very competitive salary and a range of benefits to suit your lifestyle.

Job Requirements:
  • Chartered Engineer status (IStructE/ICE) - Essential
  • Relevant Education
  • Eurocodes experience
  • Previous design consultancy experience
  • Competent Design skills + Design-checking skills
  • Team Leadership capabilities
  • Client liaison skills
