We are a fast growing innovative company developing a range of products for use across several global industries for high value gas analysis applications. We are currently expanding our core technical team through the addition of an Electronics Engineer to enable us to accelerate our new product development activities. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a technically demanding and rewarding environment as an integral part of the strong technical team.

The Electronics Design Engineer Role:

This position will be responsible for the design and development of various electronic systems that form an integral part of our laser spectrometer. The ideal candidate will work as part of a cross-functional product development team and take the lead in all aspects of FPGA and related hardware development including associated firmware.

Electronics Design Engineer Responsibilities:

+ To lead the design and development of all future electronic systems and modules with key emphasis on FPGA related hardware, high speed digital design, data acquisition and processing 
+ To ensure continuous design improvement/innovation leading to high integrity solutions that meets performance requirements in terms of noise and speed 
+ To act as the lead point of contact on all correspondences with electronics sub-system vendors, existing and new suppliers and design contractors when required
+ To work closely with a small but highly skilled product development team of scientists and engineers to develop and improve our instrumentation in order to meet business objectives and customer specification
+ To carry out systematic test and debug of all developed systems and maintain clear and detailed test reports and documentation
+ To provide support for all stages of the product development lifecycle: R&D, Production and Field Service.

Electronics Design Engineer Required Skill Sets and Experience:

+ Qualified to MSc. or higher in Electronics Engineering or related discipline with emphasis on hardware development 
+ Minimum 5+ years industrial experience in digital design/FPGA development with VHDL/Verilog 
+ Experience in ultra-high speed low noise data acquisition, high speed DSP, digital filtering
+ Knowledge of IP protocols and networking e.g. Ethernet, IPv4, TCP, iSCSI, HTTP and other communications interface (PCI express, SPI, etc)
+ Multi-layer PCB design, schematics capture and debug with FPGAs
+ Element and system level design verification and testing
+ Knowledge and experience of Xilinx and Altera FPGAs, including SoC devices
+ Additional desirable skills - Good working knowledge of ARM Cortex microprocessors, C/C++, MATLAB, analog electronics
+ Prior experience with optical and opto-electronics components, especially in RF domain would also be advantageous
+ Must be able to cope with varying demands of a typical start up
