The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Our Lifeboat crews and Lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them so, whatever the weather, they can operate to the highest standards and save lives at sea.

An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Contracts Manager to join our Engineering & Asset Management team. This is a key role which ensures that RNLI assets are procured, refitted and repaired efficiently and effectively. The role offers exposure to a broad range of lifeboats, launch and recovery equipment, contractors, and technical and commercial risk management.

As the Technical Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for creating contracts and supporting contractors with technical information, advice and expertise where required.

You will obtain specifications and define work requirements for new construction, refit and repair projects to enable contractors to provide accurate quotations and deliver work without delays. You will liaise with and obtain associated information from Design Engineers and or Technical Surveyors as required.

To be considered, you will need:

- Extensive experience of delivering technical projects
- Experience of creating and delivering against project budgets
- The ability to interpret data and use it to facilitate performance improvements
- A degree level qualification in an engineering, business or legal discipline (or equivalent experience)

As the Technical Contracts Manager, you will be confident and competent in negotiating high-value contracts with contractors. Your combination of commercial and technical knowledge will allow you to create contracts which deliver a first-class service to our life-saving services.

We are looking for people who are proactive, effective team players, and have a pragmatic approach to problem solving and a calm approach to a busy workload.

If you have the necessary qualities, skills and experience, and want to be part of an organisation where your efforts will help save lives, then we would love to hear from you.

The closing date for applications is the 13th May 2018, with interviews scheduled to be held on the 22nd or 23rd May 2018.

Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards our goals of halving drowning in the UK and Ireland by 2024. This involves a growing commitment to preventative action, using our expertise to work in partnership with communities locally, nationally and internationally to prevent drowning.
