Airfield Engineering Electrical Technician
Heathrow is like a city within a city. Every year, more than 70 million passengers pass through our terminals – that’s around 200,000 people a day. We want to make sure every single one of them has a fantastic experience. Join us as Airfield Engineering Electrical Technician, and you’ll have a direct role in making every journey better.
About the role
We’ll rely on you to deliver a safe, reactive and high-quality engineering and maintenance service to our airfield assets, including Aeronautical Ground Lighting Hardware and Control; Fixed Electrical Ground Power; Stand Entry Guidance; and Electrical Substations and Infrastructure.
Day-to-day this means you could be doing anything from investigating aircraft stand ground power faults or working on one of many systems within the Air Traffic Control Tower.
You’ll also need to be meticulous in your approach to keeping maintenance records, work orders and spares information.
Within the Airfield Engineering team, every task you undertake will be crucial to the functioning and smooth-running of Heathrow Airport. You’ll be playing an active part in keeping our standards high, our passengers safe and making our journeys better. In return, an array of career opportunities will be open to you.
To join us, you should have a very strong electrical knowledge that you can adapt to our specialist asset base. We’ll look for a City and Guilds, NVQ, or ONC/HNC qualification at Level 3 or higher, preferably in Electrical or Electrical/Electronic. Although you don’t need any experience within an airport it would be highly beneficial, as would a full UK driving licence.
You’ll be a proactive individual with impressive attention to detail and communication skills. Heathrow Airport is an environment where our people truly enjoy coming to work – and you’ll fit right into our culture of teamwork, responsibility and taking pride in what we do.
As well as competitive salaries, we offer a whole host of great benefits that make this an even more rewarding place to work. They include a pension scheme, life assurance and access to private health insurance. We also have a range of initiatives designed to help people in our surrounding communities get to and from work cost-effectively and sustainably, from free travel on local buses through to subsidised rail fares. Not only that, but when you get here, we’ll nurture your skills and do all we can to help you reach your full potential.
As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We believe that diverse talent makes us stronger – not least because we welcome all sorts of passengers from all corners of the globe, every single day. At Heathrow, we’re driven by inclusivity and we celebrate individuality.
