Job Title: Highways Construction Team Leader

Location: Stockport

Salary: £29.026

Main Purpose:

To lead an Operational team in delivering minor civil engineering projects to predetermined plans, specifications, timescales and budget.

The Role:

* To plan and safely carry out repairs and improvements to a variety of built environment infrastructure such as modular paving, kerb installation, bituminous macadam laying, concreting, pipe laying, hard and soft landscaping including drainage repair, excavation and shoring.
* Identify critical path activities, provide contingency and deliver projects to a budget by applying suitable resource management techniques.
* To be commercially aware in an operational environment.
* To have a working practical knowledge and application of detailed design drawings, specifications and civil engineering techniques.
* To allocate tasks and take responsibility for all Operational site staff, site welfare accommodation and ensure the safety and security of the site at all times.
* To apply, manage and implement safe methods of working through the use of personal protective equipment, correct manual handling techniques, cable avoidance, use of small plant and equipment including excavators, roller/breaker, compaction equipment, dumpers, motorised circular saws and other highways related equipment.

The Candidate:

* Demonstrate competency in planning and working on minor civil engineering projects in a built and operational environment
* Demonstrate a working knowledge, understanding and application of all Health &
* Safety in an operational environment
* Demonstrate working knowledge of applying design specifications and drawings in an operational environment
* To hold an NVQ Level 2 or above in Construction Operations
* Hold a full driving licence, a current Heavy Goods Licence class 2 or above, a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), and hold a full mechanical excavator licence +/-10T or JCB 3CX or equivalent
* Demonstrate a working knowledge and application of CDM regs, COSHH and HAVS

Candidates with the relevant experience or job titles of; Construction, Site Assistant, Highways Manager, Construction Site Management, Operations Manager, and Civil Engineering Assistant may also be considered for this role.
