Junior Electronics Engineer
Abingdon, OX14, UK
Up to £27,000 dependent on experience + work place pension, flexible working and 28 days annual holiday.

Who we are

We are a small electronics contracting company based in Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire about a 5 minute drive from Milton Park business and science park. We have been running since 2009 providing hardware, Firmware and software design services for a wide range of customers.

Recent projects range from a simple HDMI breakout test fixture up to a multi-DSP optical system interrogator used in an aerospace application. We have found with the range of projects that we are asked to be involved with that life as an Electronics design consultant is always interesting, particularly, being so closely involved with our customers aspirations.

We are currently expanding and are able to offer the role of junior electronics engineer. This position would suit a prospective candidate who would like to work in an ever interesting and challenging environment. You would work closely with our engineers, various customers as well as needing to work independently and on your own initiative.

The right candidate will have a strong, positive work ethic with a conscientious approach.

The Junior Electronics Engineer Role

You would play a crucial role in our team, mainly responsible for;
+ Prototype design testing, including test development,
+ Testing / commissioning of prototype and pre-production hardware, including documentation,
+ Opportunities to develop hardware and software design skills,
+ Procurement & inventory management,
+ PCB assembly & rework,
+ Lab support activities – component stocking, tool storage and management.

Junior Electronics Engineer Skills Required:

As a minimum the successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:

+ Practical hardware development experience including hands-on test and development
+ Schematic entry, PCB design and layout of various technologies
+ Using test equipment such as bench power supplies, multi-meters, oscilloscopes
+ SMD soldering

Qualifications:

As a minimum we are looking for the successful candidate to have the following:

+ HNC (or equivalent) in Electronic engineering,
+ English and maths GCSE grade C, with good written English
+ Experience of Microsoft office tools such as Word and Excel

Any experience with PCB CAD tools would also be useful but is not essential.

While we would expect the ideal candidate to be self-sufficient in areas they have significant experience we would also expect them to readily seek assistance where issues arise within a piece of work. Seeking assistance is critical for us to be able to maintain the level of service to our customers that they expect from us.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary that will be based on the candidate’s experience. We also offer a work place pension, flexible working and 28 days annual holiday.
