I am looking to place a Junior or Assistant Ecologist in an international contractor’s site offices covering the M25 DBFO (Design, Build, Finance and Operate) project around the NW side of London and Hertfordshire. The role is currently being offered on a contract basis, although there are options for permanent employment as the project is due to last for over 20 years.

The role’s primary focus is Ecological survey site work and assisting the Environmental Designated Funds Manager develop ecology schemes for design, construction and maintenance teams. Your site investigation work will focus on protected species surveys, mostly Great Crested Newts. You will help supervise construction work on-site and provide ecological advice to designers and contractors for both highways new-build and maintenance schemes. You will be able to gather, input and analyse relevant Geographical Information Systems (GIS) data.

This contract is on offer for 6 months initially, with overtime rates paid for the very small amount of night work that would form part of this role. There are options to extend or take on a permanent role due to the nature of the project.

Ideal candidates would have experience of Great Crested Newt habitat surveys on Highways design and build projects. That being said, anyone with relevant ecological / environmental management capabilities in NW London would be of interest and are encouraged to apply or phone in for a conversation about the role. Work is already underway so the firm are keen to speak to individuals as quickly as possible.

For more information, please apply or contact Sam at Critical Project Resourcing (tel: 01732 455 300).

Job Requirements:
  • Relevant education in Ecology or Environmental Management

  • GIS Mapping capabilities e.g. ArcGIS / QGIS
  • Highways experience (desirable)
  • Construction project experience (desirable)
