Cleaning Bay Operative Gosport, Hampshire to £20k + benefits

Our client is recognised as the global market leader in aerospace MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) for a range of rotary and fixed wing turbine engines and components with more than 2,000 staff and 20 locations throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a number of enthusiastic Cleaning Bay Operative individuals to complement their established and successful team.

Reporting to the Repair Services Manager and based near Gosport, the position of Cleaning Bay Operative involves working in the engine cleaning bay and water treatment facility and ensuring that engine parts are cleaned in line with both company and customer requirements, and also performing basic maintenance procedures as required.

Core responsibilities will include:

* Undertaking the replenishment of chemicals
* Completing duties within the water treatment plant
* Using various processes to remove various items such as paint, carbon deposits, grease, oil or dirt from parts as required using appropriate cleaning methods, chemicals and rinses and preparing parts and surfaces for subsequent treatment processes.
* Ensuring Quality and Health and Safety standards are adhered to at all times – e.g. when using chemicals
* Ensuring the maintenance regime is carried out so that any equipment or facilities are safe and satisfactory to use, and rectifying any unsafe conditions within the jobholder’s capability
* Conducting all work in accordance with company policies, health and safety procedures, quality procedures, manufactures and customer specification and industry regulations.
* Completing all documents related to the work being performed (so good written and oral communication skills are essential for the position.

To be considered for these varied and challenging cleaning bay operative positions it is envisaged that the successful candidates will demonstrate previous experience of working within an industrial cleaning environment and be used to working with harmful substances in a safe and efficient manner. You will be able to manage your priorities effectively and be proficient in the use of computers, with familiarity in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and integrated systems considered advantageous.

Essentially for the role of cleaning bay operative, you must be willing to walk to various areas throughout the facility throughout the day, so a good level of physical fitness is required, as is the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on a regular basis, such as safety glasses and safety shoes as appropriate, and with familiarity of aerospace quality procedures and documentation including process documentation proving distinctly advantageous.
