Salary Range: Competitive

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Contract or Contractor considered (37.5 hours per week)

Purpose of the Role:

The Electrical Draughtsperson will provide drawing and design support to the Electrical Engineering team for all Electrical Equipment on ST40.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support Electrical Engineers with the design of power and control systems through the creation of cable single line (loop) diagrams, wiring diagams and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
* Specify electrical components and control gear for industrial and scientific automation systems
* Control panel layout design
* Working with building floor plans to show cable management and busbar arrangements (not essential)
* Modification of existing designs and drawings
* Reverse engineering of existing electrical systems to produce drawings
* Interpreting I/O Schedules
* Producing Parts Lists and Bills of Material
* Producing documentation such as device lists and electrical load and distribution board schedules (not essential)
* Create dimensioned drawings and 3D models, components & assemblies based on input from Engineers (not essential)
* Upload and maintain drawings using a document management system such as Teamcenter
* Following an Engineering Change Notification (ECN) procedure

The Candidate:


* HNC/HND or similar qualification in a technical field


* Experience with AutoCAD within an Electrical environment
* AC & DC cable single line / loop drawings
* Electrical schematic drawings
* Wiring sizing within a control panel
* Knowledge of IEC electrical drawing standards
* Experience with Microsoft Office products – especially Word and Excel
* Experience with cable selection
* Familiarity with PLC’s
* Familiarity with National Instruments hardware
* Experience of LV power distribution equipment and cable management systems
* Experience of 3D drawing with Solid Edge
* Knowledge of BS7671
* Demonstrate ability to work effectively as part of a team, or alone
* Willingness to learn new techniques
* Effective written and oral communication skills
* Self-motivated and uses initiative
* Ability to be involved in a wide range of technologies
* Practically minded and have a hands-on approach to work
* Strong problem-solving ability
* Have a keen eye for detail
* Good interpersonal skills
* Good planning and organisational skills
* Able to work safely
