Salary: £44,959 - £50,272 PA (inclusive of MPP) + excellent benefits including outstanding pension scheme

Are you an experienced mechanical/electro-mechanical engineer with excellent communication and influencing skills? 

Do you have a background in heavy industrial engineering with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification? Do you have substantial knowledge and industry experience working on large rotating machines (generators/motors)?


The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for an electro-mechanical engineer to join their team within the Electrical Engineering Department. The team consists of circa 18 employees who are responsible for the operation, maintenance and refurbishment of magnet power supplies, including 2 off 775t flywheel generators.


Key accountabilities/responsibilities include:

- Operate and maintain 2 off 775t flywheel generators

- Provide engineering expertise for mechanical aspects of large rotating machines

- Produce engineering solutions for upgrade/refurbishment of same

- Lead external contractor team

- Act as duty engineer for power supplies operations

Knowledge skills and experience


- Degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent)

- Must demonstrate the ability to apply technical expertise and manage complex tasks

- Must demonstrate the ability to manage a small highly skilled engineering team



- Relevant experience in heavy industry

- Mechanical engineering role working on electrical plant in a high hazard environment

- Experience leading technical teams


Special requirements:

- This role will require you to work early/late shifts

Selection Method(s):

- Initial telephone interviews will be held around 14.12.2018. You may be required to attend a final interview in January.

- As part of the selection process you may be expected to complete work based simulation exercises and a personality profile either online or onsite.
