They work with their customers, many of which are the top blue-chip food companies, to provide unique enzyme solutions that will help them solve process problems, valorise waste, facilitate a biochemical reaction and deliver competitive advantage through innovation.

The Role:

The company is seeking a highly motivated and driven R&D Scientist to join the talented Technical Team. This challenging role offers a unique opportunity to be an expert in developing their technical capabilities to include bioinformatics, molecular cloning, metagenomics, enzyme discovery and fermentation process optimisation.

The Candidate:

To be successful you will have either a Masters or PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, biochemical engineering or a similar discipline together with extensive practical (laboratory) experience in the following subjects: DNA/protein sequence analysis and manipulation using bioinformatics, molecular cloning, microbiology, and microbial strain development. You will also have a keen interest and experience writing programme code for practical applications. Experience in design and completion of microbial fermentations would be advantageous.

You will have excellent communication, planning and organisational skills; alongside the capacity to analyse situations, diagnose problems and produce logical, practical and cost-effective solutions. You will have a questioning approach to your work, the ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively within a small team. The ability to lead a small team would be a distinct advantage in this role.
