I am looking to place a Senior to Principal grade Contaminated Land Consultant in an Engineering consultancy’s Cambridge office. Depending on experience, you will either manage or co-manage a team of more junior staff as part of the Ground Investigation / Contaminated Land team. Projects will range from local to national, requiring a coordinated approach to due diligence, feasibility, planning support and regulatory approvals. The firm has extensive understanding and experience of these issues from a site developer, funder and site user perspective across Energy and Waste, Education, Commercial, Defence and other sectors.

This role has come about due to a number of successful projects wins and your role will be to manage part of this growing workload as well as junior members of the team. You will lead on technical elements of projects across desk-based and site-based operations carrying out ground investigations and production of remediation strategies across a variety of industries. You will have direct knowledge or be able to interface with specialists in hydrogeology, contaminated land, health + safety and geotechnical engineering.

Ideally, candidates will have relevant education in environmental management, hydrogeology, engineering geology or geo-environmentalism. Likewise, full/working towards membership of a relevant professional body such as the Association of Geotechnical & Geo-environmental Specialists (AGS), Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC), the Geological Society (GeolSoc) or similar is desirable. For those who have yet to attain full membership the firm can offer dedicated training courses and mentorship from Directors who have been in the industry for decades. Likewise, relevant training from the CITB, IOSH or NEBOSH for site-based safety would be useful.

You will be able to apply your knowledge and utilise industry standard contracts for investigation and remediation projects i.e. the ICC Infrastructure Conditions of Contract: Ground Investigation Version, the NEC Engineering and Construction Contract, ICE Conditions of Contract and CDM 2015 regulations. Likewise, the ability to utilise relevant software packages for GIS or geotechnical data management is highly desirable, as is the ability to develop more junior staff in these areas.

In return for the right skillset the firm can offer a variety of ongoing personal/professional development options, a personal and company bonus scheme, private medical insurance, an 8% pension, interest free travel loans, other flexible benefits to suit you and a strong project portfolio of work that is only growing.

Role Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in Contaminated Land Investigation/Remediation/Reclamation
  • Relevant experience of both desk-based and site-based activities
  • Relevant education – Geo-Environmental, Environmental Management, Geotechnical or Hydrogeology
  • Membership of relevant professional body – AGS/SiLC/GeolSoc
  • GIS Mapping / Geotechnical mapping ability
  • Contract Management (ICC / NEC / ICE / CDM 2015)
