The Project
I am looking to place an Implementation and Commissioning Manager / Engineer with experience of Defence and Nuclear programmes with an international consultancy who are supporting the Ministry of Defence (MOD) / Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). Your role will support the current and future nuclear defence of the United Kingdom, developing various locations and key sites such as HMNB Clyde and associated facilities. The role will primarily be based between Glasgow and HMNB Clyde, with occasional travel to other key military sites.

Your Role
You will interface with Design Engineers, Health and Safety professionals, Systems Engineers and Construction staff to ensure that all Construction, Installation, Testing and Commissioning requirements within the Work Package Scope (WPS) are met. You will hold responsibility for Interface Management, Value Management, Implementation Strategy and Planning duties, ensuring that Hold Point inspections are carried out and passed.

Your role will include development of Implementation Management Plan, Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plans (ITEAPs), Requirements Acceptance Management Plans (RAMPs), development of a robust SQEP process across design, construction and other functions.

Your Experience
Over and above your technical leadership abilities within Implementation and Commissioning, you will also be responsible for various team management duties overseeing ongoing development of team members covering development, promotion, performance management, etc. You will have experience of managing, overseeing and supervising the conduct of engineering works, implementation, inspection, testing and commissioning in nuclear (or another highly regulated industry) authorised or licensed site environment covering civil, mechanical and electrical engineering aspects. You will be able to work in a matrix environment, interfacing with different ‘Heads of’ and Senior Project Managers to ensure that concurrent, different-stage projects are running smoothly. Ideally, you will be an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer via the IET, IMechE, ICE or IStructE with relevant education in Engineering.

Your role will be vital in ensuring delivery of multiple projects at different lifecycle stages. In return for suitable experience of Implementation and Commissioning within Systems, Design and Construction the firm can offer competitive salaries and benefits as well as the opportunity to work on projects that will secure the future defence of the United Kingdom with a value in the £billions.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale, high-profile schemes in a large and dedicated team, supporting the development of the UK’s nuclear defence arsenal for eventual deployment in 2028. Due to the nature of assets involved, all candidates will be required to obtain BPSS, and eventually, SC Clearance.
