I am looking to place a Senior Engineer with experience of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in an international engineering consultancy’s Bristol or Glasgow offices. You will need experience of pre-processing in Hypermesh / Hyperworks and full FEA in ABAQUS. The initial project is to support the development of a major international naval defence initiative from very early stages for the next 5 years over the entire project lifecycle. Ideally, you will have experience of working on ships or marine vehicles. Anyone with more senior experience who could act as Engineering Manager is also welcome to apply.

Your role will require you to perform linear-elastic FEA of steel structures, identify local stress issues, undertake FEA of significant ship sections and apply multiple load cases in accordance with project guidelines and perform modal analyses of steel structures in order to provide suitable design solutions. You will have relevant education and qualifications (IEng / CEng) to support your industry experience.

You will be part of a dedicated team supporting the development of a naval asset for international defence bodies / governments from phase 1 early design, internal outfitting, HVAC/Electrical layouts, Acoustics and Propulsion design through to Systems Integration, Product Management and Data Management throughout the project lifecycle. You will be able to support more junior engineers in their development as well as work with minimal supervision. Ideally, you will be able to interface with customers and internal staff at different levels across multiple locations in a matrix environment.

You will support the development of future defence assets for multiple international clients, supporting defence initiatives across the globe. In return for the right experience within FEA/FEM, the firm can offer a competitive package and the opportunity to work on some of the largest defence initiatives currently underway from the early stages of the project.

Due to the sensitive nature of work being undertaken on behalf of international governments, you will need to hold / obtain SC or DV Clearance. Due to the nature of clearance, individuals with dual-nationality are unable to apply for this particular position.
