Role: Construction Manager (HS2)

Salary: £50,000 -  £65,000
Type: Permanent

I am looking to place a Construction Manager within High Speed 2's (HS2) London office. The role will be split 50/50 between office-based assurance / managerial duties and site visits around NW London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire up to Great Missenden.

The Role
You will support development and eventual construction of 25km of HS2 route, including a 3.5km viaduct (the longest ever constructed in the UK) and several km of tunnels. This role is not a site-based or site management position, but rather to provide assurance and delivery management to HS2’s partners. In a team of 3, and under the guidance of a Senior Construction Manager with 30 years’ experience, you will ensure that external partners are developing robust programmes and that designs are deliverable. You will ensure delivery in accordance with safety, time, cost, quality and environmental requirements.

About You
You will have relevant education in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, with experience of Heavy Civils projects in Rail or another part of Infrastructure. You will be used to managing assurance and delivery duties for construction packages in excess of £50 million. Experience of enabling works would be a bonus. You may have site-based experience, but more important is your ability to work with external stakeholders and Joint Venture partners in a construction delivery/assurance role.

The Rewards
Beyond the opportunity to work on the most expensive and high-profile Infrastructure projects in the UK, part of this phase includes work on the longest viaduct ever constructed in the UK (over double in length). You will have access to a variety of flexible benefits and an excellent pension scheme. You will join a developing team with opportunities for personal/professional growth and line management responsibilities as HS2 progresses over the next decade and beyond.

Job Requirements
  • Degree-educated in Construction Management / Civil Engineering
  • Relevant experience in a Construction Management / Delivery / Assurance role
  • Relevant experience in Stakeholder Management
  • Relevant experience of Heavy Civils projects or similar
  • Relevant experience in Enabling works
  • Relevant experience in Tunnels / Viaducts / Bridges
