Are you an experienced electrical technician with a recognised electrical engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent) qualification? 

Do you have demonstrable knowledge of current BS7671 wiring regulations? 

We are seeking an electrical technician to undertake the wiring maintenance, modification, commissioning and operation of electromechanical remote handling equipment within our RACE Department. 

RACE (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments) is a business unit, based at Culham, specialising in remote handling and automated systems. We design, deliver and operate remote handling solutions for extreme environments using the latest technologies in robotics and automation. 

From our brand-new purpose-built facility, the RACE team is working on several multi-year projects to design, manufacture and supply complex, innovative and yet to be conceived solutions to work in challenging environments. 

Key areas of responsibility will include: 

-Undertake the wiring, testing and commissioning of circuits and equipment for our remote handling systems (RACE and JET). 
-Carry out maintenance tasks on RACE and JET remote handling equipment. 
-Undertake the prompt fault finding and repair of remote handling electrical systems, communicating issues to involved parties, the resolution required and the expected timeframe to repair the fault. 
-The job holder will be involved in working on RACE projects involving the research and development of new equipment and tasks and be able to recognise potential issues and Use effective communication and interpersonal skills with project team members where an issue has been identified. 
-The Electrical technician will develop and write procedures for the set-up, maintenance and testing of equipment. 
-The Electrical technician will be expected to mentor an apprentice working within the workshop. 

Due to the nature of the role, during remote handling operations there may be a requirement to attend site out of normal working hours on an "on-call basis".

Knowledge skills and experience

- Recognised electrical engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent) with relevant qualification in engineering or workshop technologies.
- Qualified to the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
- Ability to understand and work from drawings and schematics
- Comprehensive knowledge of crimping and soldering techniques.
- Experienced in fault finding techniques in electrical systems and devices

- Knowledge of the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations 
- Comprehensive knowledge of crimping and soldering techniques. 
- Knowledge and experience of assembly of high-density connectors 
- Experienced in fault finding techniques in electrical systems and devices 
- Experience of working in a cross functional team

Special requirements:
Due to the nature of the role, during remote handling operations there may be a requirement to attend site out of normal working hours on an "on-call basis".
