£13.34 per hour Plus Excellent Benefits
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a charity that provides, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service.
Our lifeboat crews and lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them. We’re currently looking for an Electronics Technician to join us in Poole.
Our vision is to create a centre of engineering excellence in lifeboat construction and maintenance. This includes the in-house production of the Shannon Class Lifeboat, our most advanced all-weather lifeboat to date, which will ensure crews reach incidents faster, thereby saving more lives at sea.
As an Electronics Technician, you will assist with the production of electronic assemblies, repair/troubleshoot electronic equipment down to component level, test electronic equipment such as VHF/HF/MF radios, radar and GPS and install electronic equipment on various classes of lifeboat operated by the RNLI.
You will be working as a member of a multi-disciplined team using standardised work and engineering drawings to ensure that the task is completed in a professional manner.
To be considered, you will need:
- Experience of assembling, installing, modifying, repairing/maintaining and diagnosing electronic equipment systems within a marine environment
- Experience of working from engineering drawings and following standardised work
- A City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, BTEC or time-served apprenticeship
This is a full time role, working 37 hours per week, 7:30 – 16:15, Monday – Thursday and 7:30 – 12:30 on Friday plus overtime opportunities. Flexible working opportunities are also available.
The closing date for applications is the 24th March 2019.
Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards our goals of halving drowning in the UK and Ireland by 2024. This involves a growing commitment to preventative action, using our expertise to work in partnership with communities locally, nationally and internationally to prevent drowning.
