PRODUCTION MANAGER to £35k neg dep exp

Our client is recognised as a market leader in the manufacture and supply of bespoke specialist glass solutions to a diverse range of clients throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Production Manager to complement their established and professional production team based near Dudley.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful Production Manager candidate will be tasked with planning, organising and controlling the production workforce of some 20 staff, and for ensuring that goods are produced efficiently and to the required standard whilst also ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery and controlling associated transport for deliveries.

You will be responsible for the implementation and control of the production schedule and it’s review and adjustment where required, and for co-ordinating the movement of goods into and out of the production facilities to meet the delivery schedule, determining the materials and human resources required and organising and distributing the workload to ensure the most cost-effective production.

You will liaise closely with the Branch Manager regarding stock levels in order for purchase orders to be raised and will ensure that all work entered into control production calendars for at least a fortnight ahead or more follow the order entry standards and procedures, whilst monitoring all aspects of production and quality control and identifying, implementing and sustaining continuous improvements to the production process as appropriate.

Other responsibilities for the Production Manager will include making decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement whilst ensuring that both standard operating and health and safety procedures are adhered to by all staff at all times, and reporting and documenting all near misses and accidents accordingly. You will maintain production control records and provide information to sales representatives, finance, customers and management with regards to delivery, dates, schedules and operating problems as required, as well as overseeing all staff scheduling, working hours, overtime and time off requests and completing the weekly and monthly reports in the absence of the Branch Managers.

To be considered for this extremely varied and challenging role it is essential that you demonstrate exceptional communication, supervisory and motivational skills with the ability to monitor and review the performance of staff and identify training needs and areas of improvement effectively and set ambitious and realistic production goals and communicate them to the team to ensure their achievement, and will realistically demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience gained within a fast paced engineering manufacturing environment.
