Our client specialises in the design, development, commissioning and service of materials handling solutions to a diverse range of customers throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer to complement their established and successful team.

Based out of the Stoke on Trent location, (and occasionally required to travel to customer sites around the UK when necessary – so a full UK driving licence is essential for the position), the successful Mechanical Design Engineer candidate will be tasked with producing solution design layouts specific to customer requirements in the materials handling and logistics sectors, creating conceptual design, tender support documentation and offer layouts whilst providing detailed technical advice and support to both the sales team and customers and suppliers respectively.

With a product portfolio ranging from conveyors, high speed sortation systems and general MHE through to complete automated warehousing and distribution solutions, the successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player looking to progress and develop their career within a varied and fast paced technical environment, and will essentially demonstrate exceptional 3D CAD skills – ideally using either SolidWorks or AutoDesk Inventor, and with additional experience of using 3D demo simulation software packages proving distinctly advantageous.

It is envisaged that to be considered for this exceptional opportunity, the successful candidate will demonstrate at least an HND Mechanical Engineering qualification or above and at least 1 year’s mechanical design engineer experience gained within a commercial technical environment, and you will be confident in performing technical calculations, dimensioning of components and creating parts lists on multiple complex projects, as well as preparing data sheets, accompanying product documentation and installation documents based on existing templates.

With an understanding of basic PLC control solutions and their integration into conveyor applications as well as a good level of proficiency in the Microsoft suite of packages, you will also demonstrate excellent communication skills at all levels and a flexible approach to your work with strong levels of attention to detail.
