Metron Advanced Equipment has a diverse customer base that includes some of the world’s top bicycle customers as well as motorsport, medical and aerospace customers. The company wants to increase its R&D capability in the field of Electron Beam Melting process.


Main duties

The engineer will be responsible to
 create, develop or improve appropriate processing parameters on an ARCAM EBM machine
 create solid and/or porous metal parts, as required by the specific application and customer
 apply the above on standard as well as new metallic materials (intermetalics like TiAl, high entropy alloys etc.)
 understand and suggest how the metallurgical properties are affected by modifying said parameters
 device appropriate test procedures to check the quality of the parts made using the above
 develop high quality practices for material handling and processing including the determination of powder recycling protocols
 Production of necessary documentation to record the knowledge created
 Work in a commercial environment to generate increased revenue and earnings


Essential skills
 BEng in Engineering (Mechanical / Metallurgy) 2:1 or higher
 PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy
 Evidence of scientific papers in the Additive Manufacturing field
 ARCAM EBM Level 2 training and minimum 3 years experience on applying it
 Experience using Materialize Magics to set up AM builds
 Track record of developing EBM parameters for non-standard metalic materials
 3D CAD (Rhino, SolidWorks, Inventor) experience as well as 2D drawings
 Stress/FEA Analysis (Strand7, SolidWorks Simulation or similar e.g. NASTRAN, PATRAN, ABACUS etc.)
 Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point
 Excellent communicator (verbal, written)
