Contract Manufacturing Process Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Contract Process Engineer from a high-tech manufacturing background to join an Oxford based scientific instrumentation company on an initial 6 month contract. The company are developing an entire family of ground-breaking new ‘lab-on-chip’ devices which are set to revolutionise the bio-medical and healthcare sectors.

As Contract Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will play a central role in commercialising the devices, taking them from lab prototype to low-volume pilot production -and beyond. This will centre on the development of manufacturing processes but will also include liaison with R&D teams and involvement in the final product development of these cutting-edge scientific / medical devices. The key component is a range of novel single use disposable cartridges employing microfluidic ‘lab-on-chip’ technologies. Using your knowledge of processing and assembly techniques for high volume consumable devices, your task will be taking the cartridges into production with full compliance to international standards for medical devices and similar highly regulated products.

Requirements for Manufacturing Process Engineer:

* Good degree (BEng/MEng/BSc -or higher) in a relevant engineering or scientific subject such as Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Sciences, etc.
* Relevant experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment such as medical, pharmaceutical, bio-technology -or perhaps aerospace, automotive, semiconductors etc.
* In depth knowledge of clean-room processing, manufacturing and assembly techniques for high volume products, ideally including polymer-based components.
* Experience with one or more of the following:

* formal risk analysis procedures e.g. FMEA, RCA, DFM

* continuous improvement techniques such as Six Sigma, Lean
* application of statistical process control and acceptable quality limits
* Familiarity with the PRINCE2 project management framework

* Experience of working within a formal Quality Management System (ideally ISO13485)

Vacancy Location: Oxfordshire (commutable from Oxford, Abingdon, Newbury, Swindon, Reading, etc)
