Are you a control and instrumentation technician with a desire to develop rapidly in a technically varied and interesting environment? 

Can you imagine a source of electricity that is carbon free, with fuels reserves for millions of years and is inherently safe? This is not science fiction - this is Nuclear Fusion - the process that powers the Sun! The UK Atomic Energy Authority), is one of the world`s leading fusion research laboratories.

The Electrical Engineering Department, operates the pulsed power converters and electrical distribution for the Joint European Torus (JET) and the UK`s new Tokamak MAST-U, and participates in many programmes across UKAEA by providing services such as control and instrumentation. 

Technicians are being sought to work on the installation, maintenance, commissioning and fault finding of the control and instrumentation systems across all of UKAEAs programmes; including both new and existing systems.

Your key areas of responsibility: 

- Leading the installation, maintenance, commissioning and fault finding of control and instrumentation systems.

- Assisting engineers to operate, fault find and commission large industrial power supplies plant and their control systems.

- Be involved in the design and implementation of new, and enhancements to existing, control and instrumentation systems.

Knowledge skills and experience

Essential
- HNC/HND in an appropriate subject such as electrical or electronics engineering but other qualifications and subjects will be considered.

- Experience of working in industrial environments with control and instrumentation systems.

- Good team working and communication skills.

Selection Method:

- Candidates will initially be contacted for a telephone interview.

- Formal second stage interviews, will include a presentation to be prepared.
