The Role 

As a Registered Engineer / Engineering Advisor, you will provide advice to our members, potential members, volunteers and staff on a range of membership, accreditation and professional development activities. 

In this important role, you will provide advice on how to progress, both academically and professionally, within the engineering industry. 

Some of your duties will involve: 

- Visiting companies to give presentations on membership and registration matters 
- Providing support regarding special application processes for the UK Armed Forces 
- Offering guidance to companies on how to support their engineers’ professional development 
- Supporting our university accreditation activities 
- Helping to create our approach, documentation and validation of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships 
- Reviewing membership applications 
- Representing the Institution at external meetings including some at the Engineering Council 

About You 

To join us as a Registered Engineer / Engineering Advisor, you will need: 

- To be a registered engineer 
- Experience of working in a direct customer-facing role 
- Knowledge of the key principles of the Engineering Council registration and accreditation requirements 
- An understanding of current engineering education and professional development issues 

It would be beneficial if you had an armed forces background, but this is not essential. 

We would like to hear from you if you’ve worked as a Registered Engineer, Chartered Engineer, Engineering Consultant, Mechanical Engineer or Engineer. 

Other companies may call this role Professional Development Advisor, Engineering Development Advisor, Engineering Development Adviser, Professional Development Consultant or Engineering Membership Advisor.
