Skelmersdale, Lancashire.

£45,281 including shift allowance + overtime + generous benefits

Our household name client has been established for more than a century and specialise in the manufacture and distribution of a range of FMCG products for supply across the globe. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Multi Skilled Shift Maintenance Engineer to complement their established and highly professional team and ensure consistent optimum plant reliability and performance is achieved through an effective asset maintenance and continuous improvement schedule.

Working on a modified continental 12-hour shift pattern and based in a flagship Skelmersdale facility, the successful Maintenance Engineer candidate will be tasked with conducting multi discipline PPM and reactive maintenance activities across a diverse range of specialist process, packaging and utility equipment and their associated controls and maintenance requirements.

Reporting to the Maintenance Co-ordinator, you will perform proactive fault prevention and continuous improvement activities in order to deliver key maintenance KPI’s, whilst both coaching and supporting the Manufacturing Technicians to develop their technical skills, so strong Mechanical experience and proven mentoring and supervisory skills are a pre-requisite for the roles. You will provide support to and involvement in project activity and change initiatives as appropriate and proactively drive root cause analysis actions through to completion within the agreed timeframes whilst identifying potential trends and diagnostics for online faults as required.

To be considered for this challenging and rewarding Maintenance Engineer opportunity, you will demonstrate proven experience of working on Control panels and MCC’s including fault finding, repair and modification and a good working knowledge of various instrumentation including flow, level and pressure systems along with strong PLC fault diagnosis, hardware recovery and minor programming experience, ideally on Allen Bradley preferred or Siemens S7 platforms.

You will ideally possess SCADA knowledge (Wonderware) and demonstrate solid knowledge and experience of Machinery Safety and Robotics systems as well as being IT literate and experienced in the use of CMMS Systems and associated tools. Whilst experience of the FMCG or food manufacturing sector would prove beneficial, this is not essential although a strong understanding of Health and Safety requirements is required.

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will realistically be qualified to at least HNC level or above in a relevant engineering discipline and have a strong electrically biased multi skilled maintenance engineer background with comprehensive controls experience. You will be a Time served Engineer and hold 17th / 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and 2391 or 2394/5 Inspection and Test qualifications and be flexible to work on a modified continental shift basis with excellent communication skills at all levels and have a genuine passion for both implementing and sustaining continuous improvement within a busy manufacturing environment.
